The corresponding government decree was published in the NPA control bank.
According to the new version of the resolution, the permitted period of stay of foreigners in Kazakhstan is 3 months for each six—month period.
Thus, the permitted length of stay for immigrants:
Foreigners without a visa will be able to legally stay in the country for 30 days, and in total — up to 90 days during one calendar period of 180 days;
Citizens of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union will be able to stay in Kazakhstan for 90 days, but only for one calendar period of 180 days.
In addition, a foreigner who does not have legal grounds to stay in Kazakhstan will be able to re-cross the border only after the expiration of a calendar period of 180 days.
Accordingly, it will be possible to enter and stay in the country for up to three months no more than twice a year. This innovation cancels the so-called "visa-free", which allowed citizens of the EAEU countries to stay in Kazakhstan for 90 days, after which they leave the country and immediately cross the border again, thereby renewing the period of legal residence.
The new restrictions do not apply to foreigners who arrived in Kazakhstan on a visa, and for those who have issued a temporary residence permit.
The official decree, published on January 16, 2023, will enter into force in 10 days — on January 26, 2023.
